I’d like to add a cautionary - you can get fleeced by the spice traders if you aren’t careful. People use to prefer buying spices at the souq/souk because they were fresh & cheap, coming straight off the boats. Now, though it’s turned into a bit of a scam, with traders naming prices upto ten times what the spice is actually worth. Chatting with the arab traders & browsing through the merchandise is a lot of fun, but please go to the local supermarket (like the Carrefour at Shindagha) and get an idea of what you should be paying for the stuff, first!
