Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House
Inmidst one of the most beautiful places in Dubai the former palace of Sheikh Saeed Al - Maktoum can be found. He was the grandfather of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the crown prince and defense secretary of UAE.
Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum lived until his death in 1958 in this palace. He was a well-loved ruler of Dubai.
Nowadays the palace is a museum which shows the history of the Al-Maktoum family, the old Dubai, life in the desert and on the sea, pearl fishing, old stamps, coins and historical maps.
The Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House is well worth a visit. There are no guided tours, a walk-through will take you about 30 minutes and gives you a good impression of Dubai’s history and tradition.
The Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House is close to the Heritage and Diving Village (approx. 330 yards) where you can see replicas of traditional houses, Bedouin tents and markets.
The Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House is open from Saturday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.
